Yuveshen Mooroogen Awarded 2025 NSERC Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship

Yuveshen works in the harmonic analysis research group under the supervision of Dr. Malabika Pramanik.
Reflecting on the award, he shared:
"I am honoured to receive the Vanier scholarship. I spent my undergraduate years doubting whether I was 'grad school material'—a doubt that was, at times, echoed by others—so this recognition came as a genuine surprise."
Yuveshen expresses deep gratitude to the many people who have supported him throughout his academic journey.
"I owe an enormous debt of gratitude to my advisor, Malabika Pramanik, for creating the welcoming and vibrant learning community I had hoped to find in grad school. It means the world to me that she trusts me enough to hold everything I do to high standards, subject it to sharp scrutiny, and push me to do my best work."
He also thanks his mentor and friend Joe Repka, "who has always been just a phone call away and eager to hear about my work," and acknowledges Matt Coles, Greg Martin, and Fok-Shuen Leung for giving him "tremendous creative freedom in my teaching, and thoughtful feedback that continues to shape my practice."
Special thanks go to Caleb Marshall, "my academic sibling, without whose pestering I would not have applied for this scholarship."
Finally, he adds: "To my friends and collaborators—I’m excited to keep talking shop with you!"
