Registration Issues

FULL SECTIONS

We do not force-register students. There is normally lots of movement in and out of courses during the main registration period. Be vigilant and patient.

It is your responsibility to monitor waitlist notifications. If you let notifications expire, you may be removed from the waitlist.

Course Prerequisites

Prerequisites are strictly enforced. You will be blocked or de-registered if you do not satisfy the course requirements. 

Some MATH courses have prerequisites of a grade higher than 50% in a certain course. If you passed the course but failed to attain the grade, and if there are no alternate prerequisites, you may replace the grade with the average of 15 or more credits of MATH_V courses numbered at that level or higher. For example, if you passed MATH 220 with a grade lower than 68%, the prerequisite of "68% or higher in MATH 220" may be replaced with the average of 15 or more credits of MATH_V courses numbered 200 or higher.

Course CONFLICTS

We will not register you into a MATH course that conflicts with another course, unless the other course is completely asynchronous.

To register in a course or switch sections for one of the reasons below, submit your request via the following link. Not all requests may be resolvable.

Advising Contact Form

  1. UBC Requirements: You are in your final year of your undergraduate studies, and the course is specifically required for your graduation.
  2. Varsity Athletic Commitments: You have signed documentation from a coach, stating dates and times of commitments. 
  3. Employment Responsibilities: You have signed documentation from an employer, on company stationery, outlining your work schedule and its conflict with your academic schedule.
