Sven Bachmann obtained a doctorate in physics at the Institute of Theoretical Physics of the ETH Zurich. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow in mathematics at the University of California, Davis. He was professor of mathematics are the LMU in Munich and is currently an associate professor at UBC Mathematics.

His research interests are in mathematical physics.
